Each bright room has been designed to detail and includes amenities to make your stay a truly comfortable and enjoyable experience. Furniture has been up-cycled by local craftsmen and artists using materials found in the house and similar properties. The floors are covered with modern tiles that merge gracefully with antique Maltese cement tiles from the early 1900’s. Some parts of the ceilings have been uncovered to showcase the limestone slabs that form the roofs. Each room has been uniquely themed and decorated in collaboration with local artists who contributed to the project with unique pieces of their work.
The beds feature extra comfortable, anti-bacterial boxspring mattresses whilst the fluffy pillows are all hypoallergenic. Top quality linen gives our guests that little bit extra snug. A duvet and blanket are also provided.
First question one could ponder could be why indeed they are identified by palindrome numbers 181 – 292 – 343 – 454 – 545 – 616 rather than simply rooms 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6. Tony has for many years also been involved in running a print business, where colours are defined by PMS “Pantone Matching System” codes. For example PMS 292 is a bright blue which is the dominant colour of this room.
The door numbers outside each room are large ladles “pouring out” the respective colour. True, the acronym PMS can indeed have other meanings – and no, wasn’t referring to what you might have been thinking – but rather to “Property Management System”, which is software used to help run hotels, like what BOCO Boutique also uses. Yet another connection.
The bed headboards are old doors which were in the house prior to restoration, now up-cycled to blend in with the individual room theme. And all have a number of original artworks embellishing the overall experience.
The shower rooms have interesting and quirky prints, suggesting photo/selfie opportunities.
There are many other details, let’s focus on the main ones here. Welcome to the world of BOCO where everything is suggestively symbological. What we call BOCOlogical.
